SAYAKO KIDOKORO'S BACKGROUND

I was born in 1978 in Nagoya city, Japan. Upon graduating from Ritsumeikan University and then spending approximately six years as a website director, I moved to Vancouver, Canada. After all my amazing experiences in Vancouver, such as meeting great friends, working as a barista, studying English, and travelling around Canada and in Europe, I decided to settle in Japan again and started my career in translation. Having gained experience as a translation coordinator and an in-house translator in the electric manufacturing industry, I now have all the skills required to launch my own business, “TRUNK.” I am confident that you will be delighted with the translation service that “TRUNK” will provide you.

CONCEPT OF TRUNK

According to the Oxford Dictionary of English, “trunk” has the following meanings:

trunk [ trʌ'ŋk ] n.

  1. [ 1 ] a main woody stem of a tree as distinct from its branches and roots
  2. [ 2 ] a large box with a hinged lid for storing or transporting clothes and other articles

My definition :

  1. [ 1 ] When I imagine my ideal self, the image of a “big tree” comes to mind. My figure looks thin, so I really wish to be like a big tree, having a solid “trunk” rooted firmly in the earth. To get closer to my ideal image, and to become a reliable translator, I decided to start my freelance business under the style of “TRUNK.”
  2. [ 2 ] When you hear “trunk,” you may think of a large traveling case. This is true in a sense. I would like to be a light-footed translator. Rather than sitting all the time in front of a PC, I wish to meet and listen to my clients frequently—as though I am taking a day trip carrying my trunk. With this goal, I promise to build a trusting relationship with clients through face-to-face communication.
